What is Vinyasa Yoga?
Vinyasa Yoga is a dynamic form of yoga based on a sequences of breath-synchronized movements used to transition between sustained postures. Since the Western world has become a seated society this style of yoga is so important. Vinyasa Yoga offers a range of health benefits to those who practice it, as it encompasses all areas of mind, body and spirit. The flowing, dynamic and continual movement from one pose to another gives us a cardiovascular benefit, sweat releases toxins and re-energises the body. The regular practice of Vinyasa Yoga can increase muscle strength, endurance and flexibility. Mentally, the synchronized breathing relaxes the chatter of the mind and helps to release any blockage of energy flow throughout our bodies. With a seated society when our bodies are still, our minds are racing. Vinyasa Yoga stills the mind because it has so many focal points that train the mind: the breath (pranayama), energy locks (bandhas), postures (asanas), transitions and sequences. It helps relieve anxiety and stress. Vinyasa Yoga is also called a moving meditation. It steadies the mind and shifts your focus from the external to the internal and within this internal space you can learn how to be loving and compassionate towards yourself and accept all parts of your being.
